Hi, everyone. My name is Lucy Barrios, and I'm a parent of students who attend JRX Academy. Today I wanted to share my video testimonial. I'm excited to share a little bit of our journey — how we got here, what our experience has been like, and how it has positively affected our family. I'll start from the beginning. Our family has some special needs.

Some of our children are wheelchair-bound, and others simply weren't feeling challenged in public or charter school, so we were running into a lot of different obstacles. Another big challenge: most of us are not morning people. We were fed up with getting up at 4:30 in the morning to get a high schooler on the bus by 5:30.

Ditching that early-morning rush lifted a huge amount of stress off my shoulders and off my kids' shoulders. When we started looking at options for our children's education, one thing was clear: we really wanted to avoid those very early bus rides to a public or charter school. So we did some shopping around, and we found that there are five different options

you can choose from at JRX Academy. There's in-person, there's online, and there are several others. We chose the online learning option so our mornings could be calm, more focused and centered on our family. One of the perks is that we get to have breakfast together. But the biggest thing that helped us settle into online learning was preparing a space —

and the right mindset — for our students and our family. In the days leading up to the first day of school, we took time as a family to transform a corner of our house into a dedicated, school-themed space. We have a little whiteboard and school supplies right here in the space I'm sitting in now.

We also have their laptops set up on the tables, ready to go. Having that special area really helps the kids transition into a school mindset, and it got them excited for what was coming next. That was a great idea from the principal — he told us to make sure we had a school mindset and a space dedicated to learning.

That was one big thing that helped. The other thing I can say about JRX Academy is that they have really delivered on tailored learning. They built a personalized academic plan for each individual child I have. And I can't stress enough how much support we've had throughout the process — even before we

signed up, while we were still just trying to learn about the school, there were a lot of conversations. Once we decided this would be the school for my kids, the support grew even more, because we were trying to figure out how we would fit in, and they said, “Don't worry, we've got you.” Our biggest challenge before this

was finding a school tailored to my kids' unique interests, and JRX Academy completely delivered. From day one, each of my children received a personalized academic plan. They also received their own academic specialist and success specialist, and the principal personally communicated with our family and walked us through everything. JRX Academy makes learning interactive, fun and unique for every

student. That was no exaggeration — they followed through, and I'm really excited about that. I want parents to know that joining the school is not a scary process. The daily communication and leadership guidance has been another big positive. Our experience has been incredibly positive. We were always connected by video conference, every single day.

Whenever I share feedback from a parent's perspective, or the students share feedback from theirs or ask questions, the education and leadership team always gives us wonderful guidance and pointers on how to support learning in the online courses, extracurriculars and quests. It has been genuinely fun, and a really good experience getting through our first school days at JRX Academy.
