For families
Family Handbook
One reference for how JRX Academy actually runs — the rhythm, the expectations, and the promises we hold ourselves to. Read it before you enroll, and keep it for the year.
Section 1
Who we are
JRX Academy is a Quest-based school for ages 5–19. Students learn core academics in the morning and carry real Quests — projects, cases, service, and craft — through the rest of the day.
We are in our beta year with seven students and three families. That is deliberate. Small numbers let us keep every promise we make.
Section 2
The daily rhythm
Arrival and centering, academic blocks, Quest blocks, snack, dinner, and departure. The rhythm is the same every day so students can predict their own energy.
Weekend Quests (Saturday and Sunday) are optional sessions families register for by the week.
Section 3
What we expect from students
Arrive ready. Tell the truth. Finish what you start, or say plainly that you are stopping and why.
Care for the people and the room. Conflict is normal; cruelty is not. We name harm, repair it, and move forward.
Section 4
What families can expect from us
A named adult who knows your student. Attendance and progress visible in the portal, not buried in email.
A reply to any family message within one school day, and an honest answer when we do not know yet.
Section 5
Attendance and absences
Report a late arrival, absence, or early pickup through the portal or the public absence form. A notice filed before the session starts is always easier than a call afterward.
Extended absences are handled case by case; Quest milestones move with the student rather than penalizing them.
Section 6
Tuition, aid, and billing
Tuition, payment plans, financial aid, and per-Quest pricing are published — no quote required. Balances, invoices, and receipts live in the portal.
If a payment is going to be late, tell us before it is. We would rather build a plan than send a notice.
Section 7
Safety and supervision
Every adult who works with students is background-checked and never alone-unsupervised with a single student behind a closed door.
Medical needs, allergies, and authorized pickups are recorded before a student's first day and reviewed each term.
Section 8
Devices and technology
Phones are away during academic and Quest blocks. Devices used for research are used in the open.
Student work stored in the portal belongs to the student and their family. We do not sell data, ever.
Section 9
Raising a concern
Start with the adult closest to the situation. If that does not resolve it, escalate to the founder directly.
Anything you would rather not say out loud can be submitted — named or anonymous — through Feedback & Reporting.
