Founding phase

YCS Is Being Built Right Now

Young people have been engaged before. The Youth Agenda process, National Leaders Council, first priorities and action teams are being formed now — and this page says plainly where each piece stands.

Founding phase

What YCS is building right now

Young people have been engaged before. What is new is this structure: the Youth Agenda process, the National Leaders Council, the first youth-owned priorities and the first action teams. None of it is presented here as finished.

  • First youth leadership core

    Forming

Convening 8–15 young people for the first founding session.

  • Youth Agenda process

    Forming

Co-designed with youth — they may rename, reshape, or replace parts of it.

  • National Leaders Council

    Forming

Functional roles, not prestige titles. Roles can rotate.

  • 2–3 youth-owned priorities

    Coming next

Named by the founding youth core, not selected in advance by adults.

  • Action teams

    Coming next

One per priority, with a youth lead or co-lead.

  • Guest speakers and presenters

    To be confirmed

Youth request the kinds of guests they want based on active priorities.

  • Coordinating Council support

    Forming

Adults activating introductions, resources, access and logistics.

  • YCS Media Network documentation

    Forming

Youth reporters, interviewers, producers documenting youth voice.

  • First visible actions and Show & Prove

    Coming next

Published once real action has happened and been approved.

The first cycle

Forming

The model above is the shape of a cycle. The live work appears here once the first cycle is set — real items, real owners, real status. Nothing is listed before it is confirmed.

First founding session

8–15 young people in one room, deciding what matters

The date and location are being confirmed. The session is where the first priorities get named, action teams get formed, and youth leads step up.

You do not have to arrive as a polished leader

YCS intentionally includes:

  • Young people with different experiences
  • Different schools and programs
  • Different interests
  • Different communities
  • Different leadership styles

Young people choose what matters. Adults help open doors.
